From October 1974 to 1981, Kia Motors embarked on the production of a pickup version of the second-generation Familia under the name "Kia Brisa." This manufacturing took place at their inaugural integrated automobile facility,
the Sohari Plant in Gwangmyeong, South Korea. Initially, production began in 1973 with the introduction of the Brisa B-1000 pickup truck, but the passenger car version, known as the "Brisa S-1000," followed later.
The original Brisa version sported a distinct front end compared to the original Familia, initially incorporating twin headlights that were later replaced with single headlights. In total, 31,017 Brisa passenger cars were
manufactured. When including pickups, the total production reached 75,987 units, with 1,526 of them being exported. Kia's first venture into exports commenced with a shipment of 31 Brisa B-1000 pickups to Qatar in 1975. The
Brisa, including its pickup variant called the "Master" was also exported to Colombia and Greece.
