The McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle, an American twin-engine, all-weather tactical fighter aircraft originally designed by McDonnell Douglas (now part of Boeing), was chosen by the United States Air Force (USAF) in 1969 after a thorough review of proposals. The USAF sought a dedicated air superiority fighter, and the Eagle made its inaugural flight in July 1972, officially entering service in 1976. This aircraft boasts an impressive track record, being one of the most successful modern fighters, having achieved over 100 victories without any losses in aerial combat, with the majority of these victories attributed to the Israeli Air Force. The F-15 has found its way to numerous countries, including Israel, Japan, and Saudi Arabia. Although initially designed primarily for air superiority, it possessed a secondary ground-attack capability that was largely untapped. Its adaptability led to the development of an improved all-weather strike variant, the F-15E Strike Eagle, which was introduced in 1989 and has been exported to several nations.
