Could there have been a more distinctive and attention-grabbing vehicle on Britain's roads than the Bond Bug, considering it was produced in limited numbers over a four-year period? The Bond Bug aimed to transform the somewhat conventional image of post-war British three-wheeled vehicles into something fun and sporty, targeting a younger audience.
With its futuristic and almost space-age wedge-shaped design, the Bond Bug was a breath of fresh air in the motoring world, capturing the curiosity of all who laid eyes on it. Marketed directly to a youthful audience, it was famously described as 'The fun car that does a serious job.' Sporting a striking tangerine finish with black accents, it stood out starkly from the rest of Britain's road-going vehicles.
Regrettably, despite its endearing appeal, the Bond Bug didn't achieve significant sales success. After a relatively brief production run, the last Bug rolled out of its Tamworth factory in May 1974. Since then, this three-wheeler, available in any colour as long as it was tangerine, has earned its place as a motoring classic, with restored examples highly coveted by enthusiasts.
