What is pitch? (48dp, 1Mod etc)
The pitch is very important and it refers to the size and profile of the teeth on the gear. Don't guess this, it's best to check your manual for your gear's pitch before purchasing a gear to avoid buying an incompatible gear.
There's a metric and imperial system for gear pitches. Here's a few common RC pitch size examples
Metric
- 1.5Mod - mainly used in 1/5 scale models
- 1Mod - mainly used in 1/8 scale models
- 0.8Mod (same as 32dp) - mainly used in 1/8 scale models
- 0.6Mod - mainly used in 1/10 scale models
Imperial
- 32dp (same as 0.8Mod) - mainly used in 1/8 scale models
- 48dp - mainly used in 1/10 scale models
- 64dp - mainly used in 1/10 scale on-road models
