November 1978 marked the highly anticipated debut of the Honda Prelude, a car of significant note as it represented Honda's first two-door model to be released in eight years, following the 1300 coupe. Building on this foundation, the second-generation model was launched in November 1982. This iteration further refined the Prelude's renowned comfort and drivability, setting new benchmarks in automotive technology. Notably, it featured Japan's first anti-lock braking system (ABS), which incorporated ventilated disc brakes on all four wheels for superior stopping power.

The engine was upgraded to a 1,829cc inline-4 SOHC unit, incorporating Honda's proprietary branched conduit torch system, which utilised a 3-valve layout to achieve higher compression and enhanced performance. The car's distinctive design, characterised by a low-profile hood, sleek retractable headlights on the nose, and a flush surface body, contributed significantly to the Prelude's excellent low drag co-efficient and overall aerodynamic efficiency.

This Tamiya model kit faithfully recreates the classic 1980s Honda Prelude. Originally released in 1983, this re-issue comes with updated decals, a revised instruction manual, and new packaging for an enhanced building experience.
