FAQs for Oils & Greases
Heavier oil (higher number like 100K) makes the diff stiffer — more traction but less steering. Lighter oil (5K-30K) lets the diff slip more freely. Check your car's manual for the stock weight and adjust from there based on how it drives.
Shock oil is thinner and measured in cSt or weight (e.g. 30wt). Diff oil is much thicker and measured in thousands (e.g. 30K). Don't mix them up — putting diff oil in your shocks will make them barely move.
