The Kyosho Optima Mid is a triumphant return of a true RC legend. The Optima Mid retains its classic design and innovative features, but with upgraded materials and components throughout.

The Optima Mid features a durable and lightweight 6061T6 aluminium alloy main chassis, providing exceptional strength and rigidity. The mid-motor position and undercarriage layout, which became the foundation for modern racing buggies, deliver exceptional handling and balance. The 4WD belt drive system now includes an adjustable belt tensioner, improving driving efficiency and reducing power loss. The moulded resin belt cover offers better protection from dirt and dust compared to the original vacuum-formed part.

The Optima Mid also features a 48-pitch spur gear with a slipper clutch for smooth and reliable power transfer, as well as FRP front and rear shock stays and a countersunk main chassis for improved durability. The body retains the classic Optima Mid design, complete with decals that recreate the original packaging and a masking sheet for easy painting. Gold Anodised Shocks

The aluminium oil shocks retain the classic look while featuring an updated dial adjustment for precise chassis height control and refined damping performance.

Mid Ship Motor Mount

The basic design follows the 1987 Optima Mid. As the name suggests, the layout allows for the mid-ship motor mount. Driving performance is optimised by centrally locating heavy components on the chassis.

6061-T6 Main Chassis

The 6061-T6 aluminium alloy main chassis achieves an excellent balance between rigidity and crash resistance. Incorporating hex screws with countersunk holes for a flat underside of the chassis.

Front and Rear FRP Shock Stays

The front and rear shock stays have been updated from the original aluminium to FRP, similar to the Turbo Optima Mid-specs.

Stronger Front End

Stabiliser end mounting holes have been added to the front suspension arms. The quality of the material has been optimised for increased strength and driving stability.

Clear Plastic Belt Cover

The belt cover has been updated from the previous vacuum-formed part to a moulded resin part that effectively protects the drive belt from dirt and dust. The new belt cover is easier to assemble and provides more complete protection from dust.

48dp/0.5Mod Gearing

 The Optima Mid's drivetrain features a 48-pitch spur gear and a slipper clutch for enhanced performance and durability. The slipper clutch protects the gears from shock loads, ensuring smooth operation and extending the life of the drivetrain.
