The Ordnance QF 25-pounder was the standard field gun and howitzer for British and Commonwealth armies during the Second World War. Widely considered one of the best artillery pieces of the conflict, it was highly mobile and versatile. For transport, the gun was hooked to an ammunition limber and towed across the battlefield by a Morris Commercial C8 Field Artillery Tractor, commonly known as the "Quad".
