Kyosho 1/10 Turbo Optima 4WD Electric RC Racing Buggy Kit
After the dynamic impact of the Optima was felt across the R/C racing scene, the Turbo Optima launched in 1986 as the strongest machine in the series. Until now. In addition to large diameter tyres, large capacity pressure shocks, front & rear stabilisers and Le Mans 240S motor, the immortal Turbo Optima has modernised for 8.4V power and makes its debut as the 7th model of the vintage series. Key components of the Turbo Optima chassis have been redesigned to meet the demands of modern racing conditions and power sources, and share DNA with the Optima and Javelin. The new Turbo Optima is not simply a reproduction of the original. It includes gold anodised parts that were optional upgrades on the original, gold shocks with dial adjustment of chassis height and new modern block pattern tyres. Higher specs and design features deliver modern performance standards and visual impact that captures the magic of the original.

Key Features
The aluminium backbone-style chassis is designed simply, yet offers high rigidity. It comes standard with 15 key gold anodised aluminium components, such as the main chassis, shock stay, and motor guard, which were optional in the original model.
The main chassis, shock stays, and plates are crafted from 6061T6 aluminium alloy for enhanced strength and resistance to corrosion. The use of countersunk screws minimises the need for nuts and results in a smooth finish. A standard feature is the gold anodised under guard.
The gearbox is fitted with sintered alloy 48 pitch gears, high impact nylon gears, and a newly added slipper clutch to handle modern power plants.
A slipper clutch is included in the gearbox to protect the drive system from sudden load changes like jump landings. It can be easily adjusted to suit various surface conditions.
The aluminium oil shocks have been updated with a dial adjustment for chassis height while maintaining the style of the original model. The shock absorber setting has been refined.
The double wishbone suspension features reinforced arms for reliable movement and a long stroke that enhances control feel.
Front and rear stabilisers are included to suppress chassis roll through corners, resulting in sharper performance.
The Turbo Optima’s body design is wider than the Optima to accommodate the 8.4V battery of 1986. This design has been accurately recreated. The original packaging colour scheme can be replicated with the included masking sheet & decals.
While maintaining the style of the original model, the new Turbo Optima features modern block pattern tyres for improved running performance. It also includes stylish large diameter (50mm/2-inch) wheels with a one-piece design as standard.
