When the U.S. entered WWII, the Grumman F4F Wildcat was the Navy's most modern fighter. Although not as fast or manoeuvrable as the Japanese Zero, it was an incredibly durable machine that could absorb immense punishment. In the hands of an experienced pilot, the Wildcat held its own against the enemy until more powerful aircraft became available.
This 1/72 scale model from Academy depicts a General Motors-built Wildcat. It features fully engraved panel lines for a realistic finish and includes decals for the unique gray and white "Sea Search" colour scheme used by patrolling Wildcats in search of enemy shipping.
