Airfix 1/48 de Havilland Vampire FB.5/FB.9 Bomber Scaled Plastic Model Kit

While historically dwelling in the shadow of the Gloster Meteor, the de Havilland Vampire carved out its own significant legacy as the second jet fighter to join the RAF. Distinguished as the first RAF aircraft capable of surpassing 500 mph, the Vampire also achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the first single-engined jet-powered aircraft to complete a transatlantic flight. The FB.5 fighter-bomber variant stands out as the most notable with a production tally of 1,123 aircraft, of which 930 entered Royal Air Force service. Those designated for overseas duty as the FB.9 boasted cockpit air conditioning, further highlighting the aircraft's adaptability and significance. Airfix have carefully recreated this piece of military history in 1/48 scale ready for you to build and display.
