Overview

The 1987 Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race was the scene of one of motorsport's most memorable victories. Under the direction of team manager Tadahiko Taira, the TECH 21 Yamaha YZF750, ridden by Kevin Magee and Martin Wimmer, pulled off a dramatic comeback victory with just five minutes remaining in the race. The thrilling win gave Yamaha its first-ever victory in the prestigious event and cemented the bike, with its distinctive purple and white livery, as a legend among racing fans.
