The project's goal was to replace ageing aircraft like the Fiat G-91Y and MB-326. Powered by a Rolls-Royce Spey engine, the AMX can reach speeds of over 1,000 km/h and is armed with a 20 mm M61 Vulcan cannon, with the ability to carry a 3,800 kg offensive payload. The Ghibli has been deployed in several operational theatres, including Afghanistan and Libya, for advanced reconnaissance and close tactical support missions.
