Ford launched its own effort to create a GT prototype in 1963. Noting the success Eric Broadley's Lola GT was having against the Ferraris, Ford acquired the Lola GT and contracted Broadley to develop a new design. The GT40, revealed at the 1964 New York Auto Show, had a semi-monocoque configuration and a height of just 40 inches.
This 1/12 scale plastic model kit represents a 1966 GT40 MK II mounting a 7-litre V8 engine of 485 HP — the vehicle that achieved a 1-2-3 finish in the Daytona 24-hour race and went on to beat the Ferraris for a 1-2-3 finish at Le Mans the same year. The kit features a complete interior and exterior with realistic engine detail, 310+ parts, and photo-etched parts.
