The German Panther tank, designed as a countermeasure to the Soviet T-34, was produced from 1943 until the end of the war and served alongside the heavier Tiger I. The Ausf. G variant, introduced in March 1944, featured numerous improvements, including a new "chin" mantlet, a redesigned commander's cupola, and enhanced side armour.
