Dr Kurt Tank designed the Focke-Wulf FW 200 Condor as the response to the Douglas DC-3. This all-metal four-engine aircraft was designed to carry 25 passengers and range up to 3000km. The aircraft took its first flight in July 1937. After the outbreak of World War II, the Condor was remodelled to a military aircraft as transport, bomber, and reconnaissance fit-outs under the request of the Air Force. The fuselage was strengthened, and the wings became longer to accommodate bombs. The inside of the aircraft was also more extensive, and machine guns were added. The FW 200C-3 is the first bomber type of Condors. The fuselage was strengthened further, and the engines were exchanged to Bramo 323 R-2 engines. The C-3/U1 variant replaced the MG 1551 and MG FF guns on the back turret with MG 141/20 guns.
