next-generation tanks. While the SLT50 Elefant tractor, featuring eight driven wheels, was designed as an off-road vehicle, a new transporter known as the SLT56, manufactured by Faun under the
designation FS 42.75/42 (referred to as Sattelzugmaschine, schwer, 8×6, meaning semi-tractor trailer, heavy, 8x6), was developed to meet this demand. The accompanying trailer, constructed by
Kässbohrer and named Sattelanhänger 56t, Tieflader, tmil, 12×0 (signifying semi-trailer 56t, flatbed, military, 12x0), is capable of carrying a payload of 56 tons.
