About Rovan 1/5 Scale Petrol RC

Also known as "Rofun", Rovan Sports are a 1/5 RC manufacturer based in Yongkang City, China.

Rovan Sports offer an affordable alternative for those looking to get into the exciting, large scale action without a massive price tag.

One of Rovan Sports’ most popular models is their clone of HPI’s 1/5 Baja 5B, which is a 82cm (820mm or 35”) long, petrol-powered off-road 2WD buggy with parts that are conveniently interchangeable between brands. Rovan Sports offer many variations of the Baja 5B which have different capacity engines and upgrade parts.

Rovan Sports’ clone of HPI’s 1/5 Baja 5B is enjoyed by all ages around Australia - especially given the top speed of a Rovan Baja can be upwards of 70km/h!

We expect to see new and exciting things in the future from Rovan Sports as they rapidly expand. Hobbies Direct’s R&D team are constantly working alongside Rovan Sports to improve their products for the Australian user.

If their epic (and newly updated) Rovan 5IVE-T 4WD 1/5 scale short course truck is anything to go by, we're excited to see what comes next!

Our warehouse is stocked with a wide range of Rovan Sports products; including a full range of their standard and optional parts for the 1/5 Baja 5B which is partially compatible with their 5T and 5SC allowing users to repair, upgrade and customise their RC buggies, truck and cars. Combined with our unique parts finder allowing you to browse hundreds of parts with a simple click, finding the right part for your RC 1/5 Baja 5B, 5T and 5SC has never been so easy.

FAQs for Rovan 1/5 Scale Petrol RC

How do I choose the right Rovan petrol RC for my skill level?

Rovan specialises in 1/5 scale petrol RC, so these are not beginner toys. If you are stepping up from a smaller electric model and want the thrill of a 2-stroke petrol engine, the Rovan Sport buggy is a good introduction to the platform. Experienced drivers chasing the full large-scale experience will want to look at the Baja. Make sure you have open space, fuel handling gear and basic mechanical skills before jumping into this category.

What makes Rovan petrol RC vehicles stand out from other large-scale cars?

Rovan is known for delivering the 1/5 scale petrol experience at a fraction of the cost of premium brands, while staying compatible with the huge ecosystem of Baja-style hop-ups. The Baja and Rovan Sport buggy use proven layouts with strong chassis, big tyres and powerful 2-stroke petrol engines that run on pump fuel mixed with 2-stroke oil. For drivers who want serious size, speed and noise without an enormous price tag, Rovan is hard to beat.

Do you stock Rovan parts and accessories in Australia?

Yes, we carry a broad range of Rovan spares and upgrades in Australia, including engine components, clutches, pull-starts, air filters, tyres, wheels and chassis hardware for the Baja and Rovan Sport buggy. Because Rovan shares much of its architecture with the wider Baja scene, many parts cross over between platforms. Holding stock locally means Australian drivers can keep their large-scale rigs running without long international freight times for common service items.

What are the most popular Rovan models available in Australia?

The Rovan Baja is our most popular Rovan model, loved for its big-bore 2-stroke petrol engine, aggressive styling and wide upgrade scene. The Rovan Sport buggy is the other standout, offering a slightly more accessible entry into 1/5 scale petrol RC while still delivering the size and performance that define the class. Both models are well supported with parts and accessories from our Australian stock.
