The Rovan Voyager 5 has earned a big following as a 1/5 scale petrol RC buggy, and now it has gone electric. The Rovan Voyager 5 12S RC Buggy keeps the same large footprint and tough running gear as the petrol V2, but it swaps the engine for a Hobbywing brushless power system. That means no fuel to mix, no exhaust fumes and instant torque every time you touch the throttle. The body comes in a choice of red or black and sits over a CNC-machined black anodised 6061-T6 aluminium chassis that gives this RC buggy a rigid, hard-wearing backbone. Strong aluminium shock towers and metal steering horns add strength where the big buggy takes the most punishment. Beadlocked pin tread all-terrain tyres on 24mm hexes grip dirt, grass and gravel and stay put on the rims under hard acceleration.
Under the body is a punchy Hobbywing 56118SD 800 kV sensored brushless motor paired with a Hobbywing Max 5 HV ESC. Two 6S packs give it 12S power. Twin high-RPM cooling fans on a rigid aluminium mount pull heat away from the motor, and a thick aluminium motor mount keeps the gear mesh steady under heavy load. Dual aluminium battery trays hold both packs firmly in place, and heavy-duty anti-spark QS8 connectors carry the high current safely. Tough, finned metal diff housings and chunky 1.5 Mod gearing send that torque to all four wheels. Adjustable bronze big-bore coil-over shocks soak up big landings, and front and rear sway bars keep the chassis flat through fast corners. A strong metal-geared steering servo turns the big tyres, and the FlySky GT3B radio's backlit screen and 10-model memory make it easy to set up. Charge two 6S packs, and this ready-to-run RC buggy is set for large-scale electric bashing.
Note
Please refer to the instruction manual for operation, safety, waterproof standards and maintenance instructions.
Medium strength threadlock must be used on all bolts around the engine (e.g., Engine mount, exhaust bolts, intake, flywheel nut, clutch carrier) to prevent loosening from vibration.
