Description

The Mitsubishi Zero, a name made infamous in World War II, was a long-range fighter aircraft that dominated the skies early in the conflict. Introduced in 1940, it quickly established itself as a marvel of engineering, boasting exceptional manoeuvrability and impressive range, making it the world's leading carrier-based fighter at the time.

Renowned for its dogfighting prowess, the Zero initially racked up an astonishing kill ratio of 12 to 1. However, by mid-1942, the tide began to turn. Allied forces developed new tactics and introduced superior technology, allowing them to counter the Zero.

The Zero's lack of hydraulic assistance for its control surfaces hampered its high-speed manoeuvrability. As the war progressed, Allied fighters surpassed the Zero in firepower, armour, and speed, rendering it increasingly obsolete. Nonetheless, due to delays in the development and production of newer Japanese aircraft, the Zero continued to serve on the front lines until the war's conclusion. In the final stages, it was even adapted for kamikaze missions, a desperate tactic reflecting its declining effectiveness as a fighter aircraft. Despite its eventual limitations, the Zero left an undeniable mark on history.

Now, Academy has recreated this piece of military history in 1/48 scale, ready for you to build and display.
