The A6M2-N, codenamed "Rufe" by the Allies, was a unique floatplane fighter created to provide reconnaissance and defence for remote Japanese island outposts where airfields were unavailable. It was essentially a standard A6M2 Zero fighter, ingeniously adapted by replacing its landing gear with a large central float and two smaller underwing outriggers, becoming a vital asset in places like the Aleutian Islands.
This 1/48 scale kit from Tamiya accurately depicts this unique aircraft and features plenty of fine detail in the engine and cockpit. The kit is highly versatile, with an optional open or closed canopy, a detailed beaching trolley for display, two pilot figures, and an impressive choice of seven different marking options.
