An icon of the Cold War, it was a Mach 2-capable, twin-engine interceptor famous for its variable-sweep wings. This innovative design allowed the wings to be swept back for high-speed supersonic flight and extended forward to generate more lift for slow-speed carrier landings and intense dogfights, making it a truly versatile aircraft.
