An early-war U.S. Navy & Marine Corps dive bomber
Special "Battle of Midway 80th Anniversary" edition
Includes photo-etched parts and canopy paint masks
An excellent project for intermediate modellers
The Vought SB2U Vindicator was a carrier-based dive bomber that served with the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps during the crucial early stages of World War II. Though considered obsolete, these crews bravely flew their "Wind Indicators" into the thick of the fighting at the pivotal Battle of Midway in June 1942.
This 1/48 scale kit from Academy is a special 80th Anniversary edition, commemorating the Vindicator's service at the Battle of Midway. The model is enhanced with the inclusion of photo-etched parts for finer details and a pre-cut masking seal to aid in painting the large "greenhouse" canopy. The kit includes three historic marking options, including aircraft flown by VMSB-241 at Midway and a plane from Pearl Harbour.
The kit accurately captures the form of the early-war dive bomber
Photo-etched parts are included for fine interior and exterior details
A pre-cut masking seal is provided for the large 'greenhouse' canopy to aid with painting
The fabric-covered fuselage and wing surfaces are realistically rendered
Three different marking options are provided for historic aircraft from Midway and Pearl Harbour
A detailed cockpit interior and radial engine are included
The distinctive 'bicycle' style landing gear is faithfully reproduced
