The McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle is an American twin-engine, all-weather tactical fighter aircraft originally designed by McDonnell Douglas (now part of Boeing). Chosen by the USAF in 1969, the Eagle made its inaugural flight in July 1972 and entered service in 1976. It boasts an impressive track record as one of the most successful modern fighters, having achieved over 100 victories without any losses in aerial combat, with the majority attributed to the Israeli Air Force. The F-15 has found its way to numerous countries including Israel, Japan, and Saudi Arabia. Initially designed for air superiority, it later spawned the F-15E Strike Eagle variant introduced in 1989.
