In 1625, the powerful Swedish King Gustavus Adolphus ordered the construction of a new flagship for his Baltic fleet, the Wasa. A mighty and ornately decorated warship, she set sail on her maiden voyage in Stockholm on August 10th, 1628. After firing a salute, a gust of wind caused the top-heavy ship to heel over, take on water through its open lower gunports, and tragically sink in the harbour before the horrified crowds.
This 1/144 scale Airfix model kit brings the legendary and ill-fated warship to life. With 229 parts, this is a challenging and rewarding project for the experienced modeller. The kit features a highly detailed hull, intricate deck fittings, full masts, and detailed sails. It is a fantastic opportunity to recreate one of the most famous and best-preserved shipwrecks in maritime history.
