Marking a historic return to top-level rallying for the first time since the 1960s, the Mini Countryman WRC debuted during the 2011 World Rally Championship. This was the first rally car to bear the MINI brand in top-level rallying since the 1960s. Much was made of the historical connection, with press events undertaken using both the 300bhp 1,600cc turbocharged MINI WRC as well as the historical forerunner, the 1960s Cooper S.
