The Airfix 1/48 Supermarine Seafire F.XVII is a 134-piece scale model kit of the Fleet Air Arm's carrier-borne fighter. An intermediate-level kit, it suits modellers with some building experience. The F.XVII was the first Seafire variant with a cut-down rear fuselage and teardrop-style canopy, and this kit captures that distinctive profile. The Seafire was the Royal Navy's answer to the Spitfire, built to operate from aircraft carriers in some of the most demanding conditions. Reinforced construction on the F.XVII let it carry a heavier load, including underwing fuel tanks and rockets. Folding wings made it easier to handle on crowded carrier decks. With a top speed of around 608km/h, it served on the frontline until the early 1950s before moving to training duties. A true sea-going Spitfire, ready to land on your workbench.
