The Messerschmitt Bf 110, one of the most recognisable aircraft of World War II, was designed as a twin-engine heavy fighter with the aim of outpacing and outgunning any other fighter in its era. In the early stages of WWII, it indeed proved to be remarkably formidable. While it faced challenges from the RAF during the Battle of Britain, the Bf 110 later showcased its capabilities as a long-range fighter-bomber and ground support aircraft. It operated extensively over the vast territories of Russia and in regions spanning the Mediterranean and North Africa, serving dutifully throughout the remainder of the Second World War.
