During the 1930s, the German Kriegsmarine developed the famous S-class fast torpedo boats, or Schnellboote. These vessels were designed for patrol and attack missions, using powerful new engines to achieve high speeds. The S-26 class, built between 1939 and 1940, was recognisable by its integrated forecastle, which enclosed the two torpedo tubes. This design was improved upon for later versions, including the well-known S-38 class. Nearly 100 S-38s were built; displacing over 100 tonnes, these 35-metre boats were capable of reaching 39.5 knots with their powerful Daimler Benz engines.

This 1/35 scale kit from Italeri is a large and exceptionally detailed model, measuring almost a full metre when complete.
