The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk is a carrier-capable light attack aircraft with a delta-wing design, developed for the US Navy and Marine Corps in the early 1950s. Produced by Douglas Aircraft and McDonnell Douglas, it has a single turbojet engine and a maximum weight of 24,500 pounds (11,100 kg), with a top speed of 670 miles per hour (1,080 km/h). The aircraft features five hardpoints that support missiles, bombs, and other munitions, delivering a bomb load comparable to a World War II Boeing B-17 bomber.
