Aqueous Hobby Color is a paint that is both safe and user-friendly. It can be diluted with water if desired, and paint brushes can be cleaned and washed out in water. The solvent contained in Aqueous Hobby Color paint is very mild, making it a great choice for those who are sensitive to harsh chemicals.

Aqueous Hobby Color paint provides a glossy texture and very good levelling qualities. This means that the paint will create a smooth and even finish, resulting in a high-quality painted surface. In particular, the gloss level achieved with the use of Aqueous Hobby Color gloss paints is excellent. If you want to adjust the gloss levels, you can use H-40 Flat Base. By mixing approximately 5% of H-40 Flat Base, you can convert gloss colors to a matt finish, or 5 to 10% for a semi-gloss finish. The percentage of Flat Base used can be adjusted to vary the amount of gloss level obtained.

Aqueous Hobby Color paint also has an improved drying speed compared to conventional solvent-based paints. This is particularly noticeable when using an airbrush. Aqueous Hobby Color paint is very easy to use for airbrushing, and can be used on a wide variety of surfaces, including plastic, wood, metal, and resin.

When brush painting, generally 1 to 2 coats are recommended, and 2 to 3 coats when using an airbrush. If painting a light color over a darker base surface, more coats of paint may be required. It is not necessary to dilute Aqueous Hobby Color for brush painting as a basic rule, but if using an airbrush to spray Aqueous Hobby Color, dilute the paint with 100 to 150% Aqueous Color Thinner (T110 or T111).

Air brushing involves the atomisation of paint into an airborne particle. If you are spraying ANY type of paint, whether it be water, oil or solvent based, you should ALWAYS spray in a well ventilated area with adequate safety equipment. We recommend that you use a face mask that is fitted correctly with the correct rated filters (P2 minimum) installed. A spray booth is also highly recommended. Our paints are Class 3 Flammables (as all solvent based paints are) so be cautious around ignition sources and open flames.

Use on ABS plastics may develop cracks.
