The Volvo in Sweden was also quickly to respond to Group A regulations. The Volvo 240,  one of the main models of the time, was used as a base car and developed to be qualified to the Group A regulation. The engine was equipped with a Garrett AiResearch made 4 cylinder inline OHC 2141cc turbocharger with inter-cooler boost system. The 240T weighed 1035kg, despite its boxy and un-aerodynamic appearance, gave a overwhelming run as a two-door sedan body.

The R.A.S. Sport (Nordica sponsored) also participated in 1986. From the ETCC in the 1986 season, the Volvo 240T was active in the 24 hours of Spa the Volvo 240T  also came to Inter TEC held at Fuji Speedway in 1986 and won the championship, and  strongly impressed the Japanese motor sports.
