The KV-1 was an unpleasant surprise for the German Army advancing into Russia in the summer of 1941. The German Panzer III and IV tanks were ineffective against the 75mm thick armour of the KV-1, and German soldiers called it "Monster" as a mark of respect after encountering it in 1941. The KV-1 fought as one of Russia's main heavy tanks together with the T-34 until the mid-WWII period. Over 4,000 KV-1s were produced from 1939 until 1943, and this 1940 variant was armed with a 39-calibre F-32 76.2mm main gun.

Tamiya presents the 1/16 scale R/C assembly kit of the Russian heavy tank KV-1. The dynamic form of the KV-1's angular, welded turret has been accurately reproduced, and accessories such as the tow cables and tool boxes highlight its superb exterior details. Many metal parts have been incorporated with the chassis to ensure high durability. In addition to forward/reverse running and left/right turning, the tank features realistic barrel and hull recoil actions when firing the main gun. The front machine gun also features muzzle flash effect and firing sounds, while both the headlight and taillight are controllable.
