The F4U-1 "Birdcage" was the very first production version of the legendary Vought F4U Corsair. Nicknamed for its heavily framed canopy, this powerful gull-winged fighter was thrown into action with the U.S. Marines in the Solomon Islands from early 1943. Its potent 2,000hp engine, high speed, and heavy armament quickly established it as a formidable opponent, proving more than a match for the Japanese Zero fighter.
This 1/32 scale Tamiya kit is a masterpiece of plastic engineering, offering a definitive replica of the early "Birdcage" Corsair. It provides an incredible range of build options, including the choice to build the wings folded or extended, flaps and elevators up or down, and the landing gear deployed or retracted for an in-flight display on the included stand.
