The USS Enterprise, or "Big E" as it has become known, was the second of the Yorktown class aircraft carriers. The vessel was launched in 1936 after constructed started in 1934. The Enterprise narrowly escaped the unannounced attack on Pearl Harbour on December 7th 1941 and was deployed to combat duty against the Japanese soon thereafter. "Big E" provided cover for the Doolittle Raid on the mainland of Japan and took part in the Battle of Midway, Battle of Phillippines, Leyte Gulf & provided air support during the Guardal Canal campaign, Gilbert Islands, Marshall Islands, Palau, Iwo Jima & Ryuku. The USS Enterprise ruled the seas until more aircraft carriers entered service. After WWII, "Big E" took part in "Operation Magic Carpet", and brought U.S. troops back to the USA. The Enterprise at this Scale is excellent. The amount of Etching and all of the Ship's outher Fittings is also excellent as thees parts complete this Ship as to the Ship of all it's greatness of CV6 in the late 1940's. This Ship when Complete will be the scale Ship that will have the everyone saying is that the Enterprise ! even as a RC Ship. Bruce Finch
