The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk was a rugged and dependable American fighter aircraft of the Second World War. The P-40E variant saw extensive combat and was flown by many Allied air forces, including the Royal Australian Air Force. In RAAF service, the P-40E, known as the Kittyhawk, played a vital role in the defence of Australia and the fierce campaigns in New Guinea.
