History Of The Boat: English Carrier Mayflower
Their religion having been declared illegal, a group of Englis puritans set sail for America in the Mayflower on the 6th of September, 1620, under the orders of the ship's captain Christopher Jones.
The Mayflower was a typical English merchant ship from the early 17th century. After two failed attempts to return to port for repairs, the famous voyage began on 6 September arriving at the coast of Newfoundland in November. It would not be until well into the winter when they managed to reach New England.
The Mayflower was destroyed on its return to England in 1624. A replica was built three centuries later and presented in the ports of New York, Miami & the port of Plymouth., The United States.
