Bronco Models 1/35 British Cruiser Tank A34 Comet Special Edition Scale Plastic Model Kit
The Comet A34 was a British pursuit tank from the Second World War. The first prototypes were created at the beginning of 1944, and serial production lasted from 1944–1945. In total, about 1,200 units of this tank were created. The Comet was powered by a 600 HP Rolls-Royce Meteor Mk III engine. The vehicle was armed with a single HV gun 77mm and two Besa machine guns 7.92mm.
The Comet tank was created as a development and a combination of structures of other British high-speed Cavalier and Centaur tanks, especially the Challenger Mk VIII. Unlike them, it had — from the very beginning of serial production — a 77mm calibre main gun, a completely new turret, and improved suspension. The first tanks of this type were delivered to the front in December 1944 and took part in fighting in Western Europe until May 1945. They remained in service with the British Army until 1958, taking part in, among other conflicts, the Korean War (1950–1953). After 1945, Comet tanks were exported to several countries, such as Finland, Ireland, and South Africa.
