An immaculate reproduction of the Mazda Renown Charge 787B! This iconic car was the first Japanese car to claim the legendary Le Mans 24 Hour endurance race trophy in 1991, which was notably the last year open to rotary engine cars. A true piece of motorsport history in stunning Mini-Z scale detail.
While retaining the best aspects of the proven MR-03, the lower centre of gravity of the new MR-04 chassis delivers significant performance improvements. The easier control of the MR-04 makes it an ideal and accessible introduction to RC cars for beginners, enhancing stability and handling on smooth surfaces.
New front hubs with integrated kingpins reduce scrub by 1.5mm on each side compared to the MR-03 design, realizing sharper and more linear control. The change to 3mm inner diameter ball bearings also reduces rotational resistance, further enhancing steering precision and smoothness.
Front suspension dynamically aligns the camber angle with movement of the upper arm to maintain optimal tyre contact during cornering. Revised caster angle also delivers improved steering response, ensuring the chassis reacts precisely to inputs for controlled and responsive handling on the track.
The chassis is powered by four AAA alkaline or rechargeable nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries (sold separately). The batteries are mounted lower than on the MR-03. This strategically lowers the centre of gravity of the entire chassis to deliver improved cornering stability and straight-line handling.
The rear suspension uses a coil spring shock to cushion rough riding from the road surface and improve driving stability. This standard setup provides reliable performance and can be upgraded to an optional oil-filled shock absorber for enhanced damping and tunability to suit different track conditions.
Flexibility of the T-bar rear suspension plate that holds the entire rear pod, including the motor and rear axle, produces excellent suspension effect. This design is a key part of the rear chassis' performance and feel. Optional parts are also available in FRP and carbon for tuning the flexibility and handling characteristics.
All axles are equipped with low rotational resistance ball bearings as standard. The same size ball bearings are used for both front and rear for spare parts efficiency. This reduces friction and wear, ensuring smooth operation and durability throughout the drivetrain.
Flexibility for using different body styles! When changing from the stock body, a parts set is included to change the front tread (vehicle width) to match the replacement body to be installed if needed. Rear tread can be changed by changing the wheel offset (Requires parts to be purchased separately).
