The Toyota Celica GT-FOUR (ST165) is one of the most celebrated rally cars in World Rally Championship history. Toyota Team Europe, led by Ove Anderson, campaigned the Celica in the WRC, with the ST165 debuting in 1988 and competing fully from 1989. Powered by a 1988cc turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine and equipped with the advanced British XTRAC 4WD control system for optimal torque distribution, the ST165 was developed through extensive testing. The effort paid off in 1990 when Carlos Sainz won the WRC Driver's Title, giving Toyota its first world title. In 1991, Marc Duez of the Toyota Fina Team took fourth place in the Tour de Corse — the race this model commemorates. The Celica ST165 has earned a reputation as a masterpiece rally car.
