The F-89 Scorpion was the United States Air Force's first two-seat all-weather fighter aircraft. It was renowned for being the most heavily armed fighter aircraft ever built.
In 1950, the F-89D series was introduced with significant modifications. It featured a combined fuel/missile canister at the wing tip, capable of holding 1165 liters of fuel and 52 FFAR missiles.
The next major series was the F-89J.
