The Leopard 2 A6 significantly improved on its predecessors in offensive and defensive capability. The turret's wedge-shaped additional armor and the commander's panoramic sight with thermal imaging were inherited from the A5, while the main 120mm smoothbore gun was extended to 55 calibres — increasing the barrel length by more than 1 metre for greatly enhanced muzzle velocity and armor penetration. Deployed from 2001, the A6 earned further trust in variants operated by Greece and Canada. In January 2023, the German government announced the provision of its own A6 to support the Ukrainian Army against the Russian invasion, inspiring this special-edition kit.
