The Messerschmitt Bf109 continued to fight as the main fighter of the Luftwaffe throughout World War II. Among the Bf109 variants — which saw more than 30,000 aircraft produced, the largest number in the history of fighter aircraft — the G type is equipped with a Daimler-Benz DB605 engine with a take-off output of 1,475 horsepower. The G-6, serialised from February 1943 to February 1945, reinforced nose armament from a 7.92mm machine gun to a 13mm machine gun to counter the heavily armoured American B-17 bomber. More than 13,000 aircraft were mass-produced. A distinctive feature is the 'voile' bulge on the side of the nose covering the 13mm machine gun discharge chute. Some aircraft also carried a 20mm cannon gondola under the main wing.

During World War II the Kübelwagen was used by the German army for communication, reconnaissance, and troop transport on all fronts. Developed from the Volkswagen national car project, its air-cooled engine and 4-wheel independent suspension delivered excellent running performance across varied terrain.
