The Tiger II, or King Tiger, was developed late in WWII as Germany's ultimate heavy tank. While the Henschel design won the production contract, the first fifty tanks were fitted with Krupp's initial turret design, often misleadingly called the "Porsche turret." This turret featured a rounded front and steeply sloped sides, creating a distinctive profile for these early production behemoths, which saw action on both fronts.
This massive 1/16 scale kit from Trumpeter is a highly detailed replica of one of these early Tiger IIs (Fgst.Nr.280009) with the initial Krupp turret. With over 1500 parts, this is a complex project featuring a complete interior for every compartment. It includes three photo-etched frets, various metal parts like springs and pins, and fully workable individual track links for unparalleled realism, creating a true museum-quality centrepiece.
