Overview

HMS Cornwall was completed in 1928 at Devonport shipyard, accepted a modernisation period from 1935 to 1938, and subsequently remained in service until 1941 with the local fleet. From 1941 to 1942 she served in the Royal Navy in the East, fighting the Japanese fleet. HMS Cornwall was finally sunk on April 5, 1942 by the Japanese First Air Flotilla in waters southwest of Ceylon, Colombo.
