Trumpeter 1/350 Italian Heavy Cruiser Gorizia Scaled Plastic Model Kit
The Gorizia began building on March 17th 1930 in the Group Orlando shipyard, launched on December 28th and completed by December 23rd 1931. After completion, Gorizia was incorporated into the second cruiser detachment on December 31st 1934. Italy entered the war and the Gorizia was made part of the squad. From 1936 to 1937 during the Spanish Civil War the Gorizia was in Spanish waters. Between August and September 1941 she participated to intercept the British in the "Halberd action", and at the same time covered the communication lines in North Africa. In December 1941 and March 1942 she was involved in the first and second Siirt Bay naval battles. Later in June she participated in intercepting the British "Harpoon" and "strong action" actions. On September 9th, Italy's government surrendered to the Allies and the Germans took control of Gorizia. On June 26th 1944, British and Italian combined commandos snuck into La Spezia and sunk her.
