FAQs for RC Nitro Cars
There's a learning curve. You need to break in the engine (run it rich for the first few tanks), tune the carburettor, and learn the starting procedure. Not plug-and-play like electric, but satisfying once you get it dialled in.
Nitro fuel — a pre-mixed blend of nitromethane, methanol and oil. It comes in different nitro percentages (typically 16-25%). Higher % gives more power but costs more and runs hotter. For most RTR cars, 16-20% is fine.
A typical tank gives 10-15 minutes of driving depending on engine size and driving style. Refuelling takes about 30 seconds with a fuel bottle, so you're back running almost immediately. That's the main edge over electric — minimal downtime.
