The M561 "Gama Goat" was a unique six-wheel-drive, semi-amphibious off-road vehicle used by the U.S. military during the Vietnam War era. Its nickname came from its designer, Roger Gamaunt, and its tenacious, "goat-like" climbing ability. This was made possible by its most distinctive feature: an articulated joint between the tractor and carrier modules that allowed them to move independently, conquering incredibly rough terrain.
