The Mitsubishi A6M Zero was the mainstay fighter of the Imperial Japanese Navy throughout World War II. The A6M5 (Model 52) was a significant variant developed in 1943 to counter the ever-improving performance of Allied fighters. It featured an improved exhaust system for a slight thrust boost and shortened, rounded wingtips which improved its dive and roll performance, allowing it to serve valiantly until the very end of the war.
