Tamiya brings an off-road buggy to its library of high-performance and fun to build R/C kits. This is the Astute 2022, which is based on the new TD2 chassis.
The new TD2 chassis is based around the TD4 chassis. Just like the TD4 machine, it employs a front inboard suspension layout which offers exceptionally slim, low-profile form. Its front suspension arms have a skid angle of 25 degrees, for amazing ground-hugging and stable performance, plus CVA oil dampers to allow smooth suspension movement. Furthermore, the chassis is based on a one-piece monocoque frame, uses the same ball differential as the ones used on the TD4 chassis, plus full ball bearings are used throughout the driveline. The battery pack is positioned transversely and positioned to the rear. Finally, a midship transverse motor layout with 3 gears connecting it to the drivetrain provide optimum balance and improved performance. Choose between low and high wing stays to adjust downforce depending on the road.
The TD2's midship motor layout and rear-biased battery placement create an optimal weight distribution for enhanced traction. The transverse-mounted motor efficiently delivers power to the 3-gear drivetrain, resulting in a responsive and agile driving experience. This configuration ensures maximum grip and control, allowing you to confidently navigate corners and accelerate with precision.
Fine-tune your TD-4 Avante's aerodynamic performance with the included high and low wing stay options. These adjustable components allow you to customize the downforce generated by the rear wing, optimising handling for different track conditions and driving styles. The TD-4 Avante rolls on eye-catching black star dish wheels, secured with sturdy hex hub nuts. These wheels are paired with front ribbed tyres for enhanced steering response and precision, giving you confident control on the track.
The TD-4 Avante features distinctive black star dish wheels paired with high-grip square spike tyres at the rear, providing excellent traction and control on a variety of surfaces. This combination ensures your buggy stays planted, allowing you to confidently navigate corners and accelerate with precision.
The TD-4 Avante features a responsive steering system with a high-torque servo saver and a three-piece tie-rod setup for precise control. The front inboard suspension ensures smooth and consistent handling, with suspension arms angled at 25 degrees and CVA oil-filled shocks positioned at a similar gradient for optimal damping and responsiveness.
The TD-4 Avante features a highly adjustable suspension system for precise tuning. The front suspension utilises upper "I" arms and lower "H" arms, with turnbuckle shafts on the upper arms for quick camber adjustments. The rear suspension also incorporates turnbuckle shafts on the upper arms, paired with lower "H" arms, allowing for fine-tuning of various suspension settings. This level of adjustability allows you to dial in your car's handling for optimal performance on any track.
